Susan E: “Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand”
As a teacher for K-12 grades, I have learned that where there is a will there is a way through individualized instruction. I have also learned that motivation is the key to learning any subject. For most students, motivation is attained through the application of instructions to real life situations. Throughout my long teaching career, I have found that the love of learning is enhanced through the simplification of subject matter. This simplification of the learning process is obtained through providing lessons that accommodate all learning styles through visual prompts such as graphic organizers, auditory prompts demonstrated through Socratic questioning, and kinesthetic prompts which call for student led hands on project based learning. These projects can empower students to produce a product that demonstrates his or her learning the concepts for any subject. I have prepared high school students for success in taking the TAKS standardized test and recently prepared students to take the STAAR standardized tests. As a student teacher, I assisted in the preparation of students for GED testing as well. Beginning this month, I will be part of a team writing for Pearson publishing for the purpose of compiling tests to be used in various forms of testing within public schools and other educational facilities. I am available to teach in East Austin, South Austin, Elgin, and Bastrop area of central Texas.

Aine C: I love working with children and helping them learn and feel successful. I am a middle school teacher, and I feel that I have truly found my calling in life. Before that, I taught high school for three years. This is my 7th year teaching, and over the years I have worked with many different types of learners. I don’t believe in ever giving up on a child, no matter what. I am very patient and positive. I enjoy finding creative ways of re-teaching challenging concepts. I hope that some of my enthusiasm for learning will “rub off” on my students.
I have a B.A. in Comparative Languages and Linguistics from Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. I have had the opportunity to travel to many different countries, and I bring those experiences into my language lessons as much as possible. I am a certified teacher in both Spanish and French and I teach English as well.
